snippet: These data are part of an Assessment of Ecological Value and Vulnerability in the Bering, Chukchi, and Beaufort Seas, a report which builds upon and accompanies our 2017 publication, the Ecological Atlas of the Bering, Chukchi, and Beaufort Seas (2nd edition). The purpose of this assessment is to (1) use the most recent scientific mapping of species distributions to evaluate the region for areas of especially high importance for ecosystem function, health, productivity, biodiversity, and resilience, and (2) apply a spatial representation of ecosystem stressors to assess vulnerability of these areas to anthropogenic impacts. Omission from the maps in this report is not intended to indicate that a place is unimportant, as future research may reveal patterns of use not available to us at the time of publication.
