The Clean Energy Screening Tool supports Audubon’s engagement on responsible clean energy and transmission development by providing rapid, science-based spatial analysis of proposed project areas. The tool evaluates a user-defined area of interest and surrounding buffers against authoritative bird, habitat, conservation, land use, and energy infrastructure datasets. It generates a map-ready output layer and a formatted PDF report summarizing intersections and area metrics to help identify potential risks, inform mitigation strategies, and guide early-stage project discussions.

| Parameter | Explanation |
|---|---|
| AOI |
Polygon, line, or point geometry representing the proposed project footprint or route to be evaluated. This input defines the spatial extent used to generate project buffers and perform conservation screening analysis. |
| Project_Name |
User-defined name for the proposed project. This name will appear in the generated screening report and will be used to label output files and map elements. |
| Region_Code (Optional) |
Select the geographic region associated with the project. The selected region determines which conservation datasets, map templates, and reporting layouts are used in the analysis. |
| Footer_Override (Optional) |
Optional custom footer text to replace the default regional footer in the screening report. Leave blank to use the standard regional attribution. (Note- only used for AGL-UMR regions). |
